Ever since the lockdown began, OTT platforms have become famous and have made it easier for binge-watchers to watch movies and shows from home. On the other hand, various platforms are also releasing  a variety of  movies and series on their respective platforms. Here are 10 movies and Series that were released on OTT in December!

 

  • Minnal Murali:

Starring Tovino Thomas, Minnal Murali is the first of its kind Superhero movie in Indian Cinema, directed by Basil Joseph. The Malayalam movie revolves around Jaison (Tovino Thomas) and Shibu (Guru Somasundaram), who are both hit by lightning, and end up gaining superpowers. However, the decisions they respectively make on how to use those superpowers make one the protagonist and the other the antagonist. How good wins over evil forms the basic crux of the story. Tovino Thoman received a lot of appreciation for his performance, and the movie was a good comedy entertainer.

  • Maanaadu:

Directed by Venkat Prabhu, Maanaadu starring Simbu and SJ Suryah in lead roles deals with the time-loop concept. The story is set on the day of a public conference by the state’s Chief Minister, where a commoner and a police officer get stuck in a time loop. The movie was a cat and mouse chase between the two leads and the performances of both actors were brilliant. The time loop concept was also handled in the best way possible by the director.

  • Decoupled:

Starring Madhavan and Surveen Chawla, Decoupled is a series that deals with a misanthropic writer and his startup-founder wife who juggle their divorce with the absurdities and annoyances of life in their affluent world. The series is a fun and sarcastic take on marriage and its after-effects. Directed by Manu Joseph, this series is a must-watch for Madhavan’s flawless performance.

  • Atrangi Re:

Directed by Anand L Rai, Atrangi Re is a Hindi film starring Dhanush, Akshay Kumar and Sara Ali Khan. The movie is about a Tamil boy who meets a girl from Bihar, and what follows is a love story for the ages. A non-linear narrative of two romances running in parallel from different timelines. The movie is one of colours involving Bihari and Tamil cultures and dialects. The movie’s performances are worth a mention, and it is a good family entertainer.

  • Marakkar Arabikadalinte Simham:

Starring Mohanlal, Keerthy Suresh, Arjun Sarja, Sunil Shetty and Manju Warrier in prominent roles, Marakkar is an Indian epic war film in Malayalam directed by Priyadarshan. Set in the 16th century Calicut, the film is based on the fourth Kunjali Marakkar named Muhammad Ali, the admiral of the fleet of the Zamorin. Kunjali Marakkar IV becomes a legendary navel chief while waging an epic war against the Portuguese on behalf of the Kingdom of Cochin. The movie was a grand one with medieval costumes, sets and looks.

  • Konda Polam:

Directed by Krish Jagarlamudi, Konda Polam is a Telugu film starring Varun Tej and Rakul Preet Singh in lead roles. The movie is about the shepherds in the Nallamala Forest who defy the odds as they protect their sheep from the dangerous attacks of predators, both animal and human. It is a typical village backdrop film being an action-thriller. The movie is based on a novel of the same name by Sannapureddi Venkata Ramireddy.

  • Kadaseela Biriyani:

Directed by Nishantha Kalidindi, Kadaseela Biriyani is a Tamil black-comedy film starring Vasanth Selvam, Dinesh Pandi and Vijay Ram in lead roles. The movie is about three brothers who break into the local landlord’s rubber estate to avenge their father’s death, but fate has cruel plans as they are welcomed by the landlord’s maniac son. The movie was considered one of the unique ones of the year as it was majorly raw and indie.

  • Madhuram:

Starring Joju George and Arjun Asokan, Madhuram is a Malayalam film directed by Ahammed Khabeer. The movie mainly focuses on Sabu and Kevin, the two bystanders in hospital. Sabu waits for his wife’s recovery, and Kevin, for his mother’s surgery. Both of them become friends as Sabu’s love story helps Kevin realize his mistakes in his marriage life. The movie revolves around the journey of Sabu’s love life 10 years back and the journey of Kevin’s realization. It is a heartwarming movie that focuses on 2 primary characters and their lives.

Parampara is an Indian Telugu-language crime drama streaming television series starring Jagapathi Babu, Sarath Kumar, Naveen Chandra, Ishaan and Aakanksha Singh in the lead roles.After the demise of a local leader in Vizag, one of his grandsons begins an internal battle with the family to earn back lost respect.The series was a long one with a crime based storyline.

  • Pushpaka Vimanam:

Starring Anand Devarkonda Pushpaka Vimanam, Pushpaka Vimanam is telugu film directed by Damodara. A recently married government school teacher is trying to cover up the fact that his wife has eloped. But the more he tries, the more cornered he finds himself. The movie is worth a watch if you’re game for a quirky film with a pinch of comedy, spoon-full of twists and a stellar cast to back it all up.
