Romances never go out of style, it just evolves with time and phase. And in films, the admiration and love for onscreen pairs also increases along with the love stories. Creating magic onscreen is arduous than thought, an onscreen couple who caught people’s eyes with their unbeatable chemistry and intimacies are Vijay Sethupathi – Aishwarya Rajesh.

Rural subjects are their go to genre, a vintage car ride, fishing in local ponds, dancing in grass fields seem to be more poetic than a fancy coffee date or a candle light dinner for this duo. With their realistic love stories, boy/girl next door image and admirable performances they won people’s hearts. Scroll to go down a memory lane of Vijay Sethupathi – Aishwarya Rajesh films.

Rummy:

Aishwarya Rajesh was paired with Vijay Sethupathi for the first time in this romantic drama directed by debutant Balakrishnan. Starring Inigo Prabhakaran, Vijay Sethupathi, Gayathri Shankar and Aishwarya Rajesh in the lead roles, the film is about two college students who fall in love with two sisters. When the girls’ family learns about this, they go to any extent to save their honor. ‘Koodamela Koodavechi’ song composed by D Imman was a huge hit and the pair shined among people in their very first film together.

Pannaiyarum Padminiyum:

Following Rummy, this film got released in the year 2014 and was directed by debutant S U Arun Kumar. The film revolves around the life of a Pannaiyar and love for his vintage car. Murugesan’s (Vijay Sethupathi) love for Malarvizhi (Aishwarya Rajesh) was so realistic and ‘Enakkaga Poranthaye’ song won hearts. Though Pannaiyar and his wife Chellama’s intimacy took main stage, this pair had their own share of love and romance.

Dharma Durai:

After working for two projects, the duo was seen in Seenu Ramasamy’s Dharma Durai. The film had big names like Raadhika Sarathkumar, Tamannah Bhatia, Srushti Dange, M S Baskar and Aruldoss. Jeeva Subramanian, a Trans woman was cast in the film in a dignified and sensible manner. Anbuselvi commits suicide as she couldn’t marry the man of her dreams, Dharmadurai becomes an alcoholic after this. The film addressed dowry system in India and how it affected the lives of innocent women. The couple created an impact with their naturalistic performances.

Ka Pae Ranasingam:

Ariyanachi (Aishwarya Rajesh) and Ranasingam (Vijay Sethupathi) meet when he comes to figure out the flow of water in the former’s farmland, Ranasingam was also a social activist and this impressed Ariyanachi. They fell in love with each other and Ranasingam treated her equally and also believed she had every right as his better half. The love Ariyanachi had for her husband was evidently seen in the second half of the film.

We would definitely love to see more of them onscreen, a good script is all the duo needs to come together again. Aishwarya Rajesh shared an emotional moment with the actor in JFW awards 2019, she thanked Vijay Sethupathi for supporting her professionally while receiving Best Actress Critic for Kaana. We could see the respect and the beautiful relationship they both shared off-screen.
