Trisha & Simran: Check Out The Women In ‘Petta’!

Excitement!

Last week, a still featuring Trisha and Rajinikanth was released from their upcoming film Petta. While Rajinikanth looks rather young, with a handlebar moustache and his signature bouffant hair on screen, Trisha looked like herself in a more village belle avatar. Needless to say, the still made quite an impact and netizens were shipping for this on-screen couple.

And now, the makers released a poster of Simran – the other female lead – and Rajinkanth and how they appear to have quite a chemistry on screen.

This time, Rajinikanth looks older with a salt and pepper beard but a more brownish tinge on hair.

In an official interview with JFW a few months ago, here’s what Simran said on this project:

“I can only tell you that the journey has been fantastic! The whole team has been an excellent company to be around with. Working with Rajini sir is just out of this world! True to what people say he is really a superstar off-screen as well. He has such an aura around him that it just rubs off on you. I still wonder if it is a dream sometimes! I cannot reveal more than this.”

Speaking on director Karthik Subbaraj, she said:

“Karthik is such an organized person; it is just amazing to watch. He doesn’t use a laptop, tablet or mobile phone during the shot. He pretty much relies on his creativity and believe me, that is vast! In fact, you won’t even see scripts and dialogues on the set. He is a one-man army! He also has an excellent team and they are pretty hands-on and quite creative.”

Sources say that the movie speaks loud against honour killing. And the scenes involving Rajinikanth and Trisha speak the same. Trisha confirmed that she appears in flashback portions and her role is brief.

Produced by Sun Pictures and directed by Karthik Subbaraj, Petta also has Simran, Vijay Sethupathi, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Bobby Simha, Megha Akash, Sasikumar and Sanath in the cast.

At the audio launch of Petta, Karthik Subbaraj, said, ‘Petta is made by fans of Rajinikanth. We put in a lot of thought in filming every single shot of Rajinikanth. Vijay Sethupathi is also a big Rajinikanth fan. He told me that one day I will direct Rajinikanth in a film. And when it happens, he will play the villain in the project. It was another dream come true moment to work with Nawazuddin Siddiqui. He is also a Rajini fan.’

Vijay Sethupathi will be playing the main antagonist in the movie. And the movie’s album features tracks like ‘Marana Mass’, ‘Ullaallaa’, ‘Ilamai Thirumbudhe’, ‘Madura Petta’, ‘Petta Paraak’, ‘Singaar Singh’, ‘Aaha Kalyanam’, ‘Jithu Theme’, ‘Petta Theme’, ‘Kaali Theme’ and ‘Thappad Maara’.
