When Gautami Had Cancer, Both Of Us Shaved Our Heads Together: Kamal Hassan!

When the actress was battling cancer.

Celebrities these days do more than just entertaining, they make use of their popularity to help a cause. One such common cause that many celebrities these tend to take up is the hair donation to cancer patients. Many popular celebrities have shaved their heads to spread awareness and help the people coping with cancer. The recent celebrity to join this group was Comedian Harathi. Harathi who was recently famous in Vijay TV’s Bigg Boss came back to the show on Sunday for her re-entry.

When Kamal asked each contestant how their life has been after the show, Harathi removed the wig on her head and revealed that she’d shaved her hair for the sake of cancer patients. She said she wanted to do something that would make them feel better. “Having a shaven head does not in any way affect one’s beauty because what’s inside is what that matters”, said she.

After Harathi spoke about why she shaved her head, Kamal Haasan opened up about his own personal experience with ex-partner Gautami, who is a cancer survivor.

“When Ms Gautami had cancer, both of us shaved our heads to make her daughter feel all right with the situation,” said Kamal.

Kamal and Gautami who were in a live-in relationship for 13 years before they decided to call it quits became close when the latter was fighting her battle with breast cancer.

This is not the first time the actor opens up about his experience, earlier in 2009 when the couple was invited to speak on their journey at an event conducted by Ushalakshmi Breast Cancer Foundation and KIMS hospital, Kamal had said, “I have done many films as cancer patient, but I have got them all wrong. Unintentional, yet subversive messages go out of all the movies about health and many other aspects.”
