We Laughed And We Cried: Nagarjuna Gets Emotional About The Annapurna Studios Fire Accident!

Indeed a week of mixed feelings!

A major fire broke out the Annapurna studios situated in Hyderabad’s Banjara Hills. Known to be one of Tollywood’s most famous studios, it was established by the late Nageshwara Rao Akkineni in the year 1975. Speaking to PTI, Assistant District Fire Officer Y Prabhakar Reddy said, “A film set caught fire at around 6:15 PM, following which four fire tenders were pressed into service. Though flames were very high, the blaze was completely extinguished within two hours.”

There have been no findings regarding the exact cause of the accident. However, a short circuit is suspected to be the cause according to a fire official. Annapurna Studios, promoted by noted film actor Akkineni Nagarjuna, is one of the oldest studios in South India.

In a recent press meet, Nagarjuna talked about how it held strong his father’s memories and how much that meant to him while he fought back tears. It was also the set where three generations of the Akkineni family, including the late Nageshwar Rao shot their movie ‘Manam’. However, he further added that he was relieved to know that there were no injuries or loss of life.

Tweeting on social media, the ‘Raju Gari Gadhi 2’ actor said, “Hello my friends, it’s been an emotional week!! We laughed and we cried and now we are ready to kickstart #Hello promotions this afternoon 2 pm.”

‘Hello’ is a Telugu film starring Nagarjuna’s son Akhil Akkineni in the lead.
