RJ Balaji’s directorial debut which is co-directed by NJ Saravanan titled Mookuthi Amman released its first look on February 29th revealing the actress’s appearance in the film. The film stars Nayanthara in its titular role and is a throwback to the devotional films of the 90s.

The trailer released is trending. In the trailer, Nayanthara looks strikingly beautiful as the titular goddess. Mookuthi Amman also stars RJ Balaji, who plays a journalist waiting for a miracle to happen.  Mookuthi Amman takes his aid to bring down an evil greedy godman. The trailer opens with the dialogue that the one who says he is an atheist is better than the one who claims his god is better than the other’s. The video also touches upon the issue of water pollution, albeit in an interesting manner. The movie looks seems to be a comedy drama that will touch upon social issues.  l

Tollywood superstar Mahesh Babu took to his Twitter space and shared the trailer’s Telugu version. Sharing it, Mahesh Babu wrote on his Twitter space, “Happy to release the trailer of @RJ_Balaji’s directorial debut #AmmoruThalli starring himself and Nayanthara, releasing this Wishing him and the entire team very best.” As soon as the trailers were released, audience, who were desperately waiting for the trailer, took to the comments section and expressed their excitement.

While interviewing him, RJ Balaji said that he wanted, “someone with a larger-than-life image” to play the role of Amman. He also said, “I did not write this role particularly for Nayanthara, though I wanted someone of her stature… an actress with that majestic screen presence.” It was an unexpected call from the Lady Superstar that made him narrate this script to her, he added.

Earlier Radha Ravi had shamed Nayanthara for earlier for a similar reason where the actor said that women like Nayanthara cannot even be imagined in the role of an actress. Nayanthara then reminded him through a press release that answered every man who body-shames or slut-shames another woman at public forums.

On the professional front, Nayanthara is currently shooting for Thalaivar 169 directed by Siva, Mookuthi Amman directed by RJ Balaji, Netri Kann produced by Vignesh Shivan and Kaathuvaakkula Rendu Kadhal starring Vijay Sethupathi and Samantha Akkineni in the lead and directed by Vignesh Shivan.
