An announcement was made through the production house, seven screen studio via Twitter. Initially, the film was supposed to start filming in April 2020 but was delayed due to the national lockdown.

Earlier, rumours stated that Samantha Akkineni had backed out from project and was replaced by Trisha Krishnan. However, clarifications were made and reports later confirmed that Samantha is part of the much awaited film.
The film will see the comeback of the naanum rowdy dhaan powerhouse, which included actors Nayanthara and Vijay Sethupathi, director Vignesh Shivan and music director Anirudh. The team has joined hands once again, five years after the release of the film.
Nayanthara will be sharing screen space with Vijay Sethupathi for the third time. While, Samantha will be filming who was part of the hit film super deluxe along with the actor never had any scenes with him in the movie.
This is the first time that the current leading ladies of Tamil cinema, Samantha and Nayanthara will be seen in the same film. The romantic comedy is expected to hit the big screen in 2021.
