Ahead of the Ponniyin Selvan 2 release, the makers of the Mani Ratnam directorial revealed Trisha Krishnan’s multiple looks as Princess Kundavai from the film with a special video. Ponniyin Selvan 2, the highly anticipated second installment of veteran filmmaker Mani Ratnam’s much-celebrated movie franchise, is now gearing up for a grand release. The first part of the project, which is based on legendary writer Kalki Krishnamurthy’s novel of the same name, hit the theatres in September 2022 and emerged as a massive box-office success. The makers of Ponniyin Selvan are now gearing up to kickstart the promotions for the second part, and have been treating the fans with special videos on social media.

The popular actress won the hearts of audiences with her performance as Princess Kundavai, in Ponniyin Selvan 1. During the promotions of the first installment, Trisha Krishnan revealed that both she and the team members, including stylist Eka Lakhani tried around 50 looks for the character Kundavai. Later director Mani Ratnam personally choose around 10 looks from them, which eventually made it into the film. Now, the makers of Ponniyin Selvan have dropped a special video, which consists of Trisha’s entire looks from the film.

In the video, Trisha Krishnan is seen in Princess Kundavai’s signature top bun and side braid hairdos, different colors of traditional silk outfits, and antique temple jewellery ornaments. The talented actress looks simply ethereal as Chola Dynasty’s most intelligent princess, who played a great role in her younger brother Arunmozhi Varman aka Raja Raja Chola’s immense growth as a powerful emperor.

Towards the end of the Kundavai special video, the makers of Ponniyin Selvan 2 have also confirmed that the first single of the project, which is composed by AR Rahman, is gearing up for its grand release very soon. Some unconfirmed reports suggest that the first single of Mani Ratnam’s magnum opus is the romantic melody ‘Devi’ which will depict the poetic romance of Princess Kundavai, and Vanthiyathevan, the much-loved character played by Karthi. The film fanatics are now eagerly waiting to watch the magical chemistry of the much-loved onscreen pair, once again on the silver screen.
