Last week, the Tamil Nadu government had placed a request to the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting to either stop or ban the release of show’s second season. In a letter to I&B minister Prakash Javadekar, Tamil Nadu IT Minister T Mano Thangaraj said the trailer presented Tamilians in a “highly objectionable manner”. However, in spite of these requests and demands, the series is all set to release on June 4.

While this was trending initially, Samantha fans collectively took effort to trend the #WeSupportSamantha yesterday. Meanwhile, the directors of the show Raj and DK have issued a statement to answer to the backlash. As a part of their statement they said, “we are very cognizant of the sentiments of the Tamil people and Tamil culture and have nothing but the utmost love and respect towards our Tamil people.”

Some fans are also urging people to wait for the series to release so that they could watch it and then make a judgement. The series releases tomorrow on Amazon Prime Video and only after watching it we will know if they have disrespected the Tamil Eelam or not.
