After the much discussed Thalapathy 65, it was confirmed that Kolamaavu Kokila fame Nelson Dilipkumar would be director the actor under Sun Pictures production. The music would be composed by Anirudh Ravichander and the leading lady of the film would be Pooja Hegde. As soon as this was confirmed, speculations surrounded around Vijay’s next film, the untitled Thalapathy 66.

Several big names including Atlee and Lokesh Kanagaraj were also considered. However, looks like it another big director won Vijay’s heart and it is none other than the Asuran director Vetri Maaran. Vijay wanted to collaborate with Vetri Maaran for his 65th film but due to his prior commitments with actor Suriya’s Vaadivaasal and actor Soori’s untitled next.

However, Vetri Maaran is now keen on directing the Mersal actor and in fact is seen pacing his previous shoots to sit for script reading with Vijay.

On the professional front, Vetri Maaran is currently filming for his next starring Soori in the lead role, and the film shooting is nearing the completion. Vetri Maaran has also signed up to work under RS Infotainment, and announced another film with Suriya in the lead role, which is titled ‘Vaadi Vaasal’.

Meanwhile, Nelson is awaiting the release of Sivakarthikeyan’s Doctor. He will begin shooting for his first schedule with actor Vijay once the release takes place. It is believed that the first schedule would be shoot in the scenic locales of Russia.
