A few weeks back, there was talk that Meena was to replace Gautami in the sequel. Gautami and Kamal parted ways in 2016, and it is speculated that it is one of the reasons why Gautami will not be joining the sequel. Meena played the leading lady in both Drishyam 1 and 2. She was therefore considered appropriate for the role. 

However, a subsequent update suggested that actress Nadhiya may be offered the role. While Nadhiya is a very famous actress who has a separate fanbase, she has never acted alongside Kamal Haasan. She had a lot of conditions to act along with Kamal and therefore has been replaced.

The latest buzz in K-town is that Pooja Kumar is all set to play the role. Pooja Kumar has acted as Kamal’s co-star in quite a few movies. There were even rumours once that Pooja and Kamal were in a relationship. But, she disproved the rumours recently by posting a picture with her husband and child.
