TRENDING: Netizens trend #BoycottAliaBhatt on Twitter! Find out why!

Oh No!

Alia Bhatt has been in the news for a while now, ever since she announced her pregnancy a while ago. Initially, she was trolled for getting pregnant immediately after getting married. She then gave the public a befitting reply for all the trolls, telling them it is her body and so her choice. Then, she was pestered with questions like whether she will continue acting after her delivery. For this also, Alia Bhatt has been replying patiently by saying that the child will not be affecting her career.

With all of these trolling and rumours also, the actor continues to succeed in her career. Today, she has debuted as a Producer with her film ‘Darlings’ directed by Jasmeet K Reen. The movie deals with domestic violence. The story revolves around Badru, who hopes her volatile husband will reform if he stops drinking. However, when his rage goes too far, she and her mum boldly, albeit clumsily, seek revenge. This movie has released on Netflix today.

Ahead of the release, Netizens have trend the #BoycottAliaBhatt on Twitter. Internet users are not happy with ‘Darlings’ promoting domestic violence against the men and have started trending #BoycottAliaBhatt on Twitter. “#boycottAliaBhatt Why is Domestic violence against men normalized and even worse mocked. 3.4 crore men in India face domestic violence . This is not acceptable,” wrote one netizen. Another user tweeted, “#BoycottAliaBhatt who believes it is Humorous to make movies of Domestic Violence on Men. #BoycottDarlings.” Check out some tweets below:

Speaking about abusive relationships in an interview, Alia Bhat earlier said, “It really pains me to know that there are so many people who are fearful and living their life alone. That’s the biggest fear for so many women. How will I do everything alone? It’s difficult to say how a woman should react to an abusive relationship. They should ideally separate themselves from it and I think that’s what we’re trying to say through the film. You have your own identity, you have your own needs and what tends to happen in our society is that we are taught to put our partner’s needs before us. This is a representation of an abusive relationship between a man and wife, two life partners. But sometimes it can happen in other dynamics as well. Violence of any kind, when inflicted on an individual is not okay, it’s not permissible.” On the work front, Alia Bhatt  is currently filming for Rocky or Rani ki Prem Kahani and Heart of Stone.
