As soon as Kaithi released, Director Lokesh said that the movie surely has a sequel and Karthi also revealed that he will be working with the Director again. However, the director moved on to work with Actor Vijay for Master which was released a few months back. While fans anticipated that the director would team up with Karthi again for the sequel, Lokesh announced his movie ‘Vikram’ with Kamal Haasan. Fans have been waiting for an update on Kaithi 2 ever since. 

Now, Producer S R Prabhu has confirmed through a Twitter Spaces interaction that Kaithi 2 is in the works. Kaithi’s story revolves around Dilli, an ex-convict, who endeavors to meet his daughter for the first time after leaving prison. However, his attempts are interrupted due to a drug raid planned by Inspector Bejoy. 

After the announcement by the producer, fans wonder what the sequel would be about. Director Lokesh however, has left a hint in the first movie itself where the character Adaikalam saying that Dilli does have connections with their gang. It is therefore anticipated that the sequel will focus on the connection between the two. 

On the work front, Karthi is currently filming for Sardaar and Ponniyin Selvan. Karthi’s Sulthan alongside Rashmika Mandanna was recently released on OTT after a brief Theatrical release.
