He took to Twitter and Instagram and said, “#8yearsofJigarthanda And…..” with clips that showed the behind-the-scenes from the original film interspersed with the visuals of the titular beverage. Just as the Jigarthanda gets ready, another long glass of the beverage is placed next to it, hinting at a sequel. Jigarthanda is a famous milkshake like drink from Madurai.

The director then shared that the script writing process of the sequel is underway. However, it is still unclear if the movie will be a continuation of the original characters and story, or if the story is entirely new. We also have no information about the cast and crew details at the moment.
Jigarthanda is a Tamil film starring Siddarth and Bobby Simha in lead roles. This movie revolves around a director who decided to make a breakthrough film by making one out of a don ‘Sethu’s’ life. However, when he gets caught by the don, he is forced to make a film with him acting in the role. How he takes the film and makes it a success forms the rest of the story. The movie also has Karunakaran and Lakshmi Menon in supporting roles.
Santhosh Narayanan provided the songs and background score for the venture, while Vivek Harshan has done the editing. Gavemic U. Ary has handled the camera work for the flick. Jigarthanda even bagged two National Awards with Bobby Simha as a supporting Actor and the other one to Vivek Harshan for editing.
Karthik Subbaraj started his directing career with Pizza in 2012. In these 10 years, he has done 10 films including hits such as, Iraivi, Petta, Jigarthanda and Mahaan. He is now the writer for a film called RC15, directed by S Shankar and starring Allu Arjun and Kiara Advani. He has also done 2 web-series content, one for Putham Pudhu Kalai and one for Navarasa.
