TN: Man Rescues His Woman Passenger From Getting Harassed; Tragically Dies!

Abdullah, an auto-driver wanted to save his passenger from harassment!

Abdullah was a 32-year-old auto driver picking up his passenger as a part of his daily duty. He was a resident of Muslim street at Trichy city and he is a father of two children. He left from home at around 11 AM for work and his first passenger was a woman who wanted to visit the Trichy Famous Biryani restaurant to pick up a parcel. Abdullah was waiting outside for her. That was when a drunk man allegedly smacked at the woman.

Abdullah, seeing his woman passenger being harassed in the restaurant, immediately reacted and went in to rescue her. But, he was brutally beaten to death in the restaurant. Abdullah’s wife Tashmin Banu stated, “According to what eyewitnesses told us, an inebriated man, who was at the restaurant, purposely smacked into the woman. My husband immediately questioned the man and the people with him, and then, a tussle ensued. They hit each other and then the drunk man left, threatening to bring more people. But my husband didn’t take it seriously. However, he did come back with three men and they all hit him till he died. They used a wooden plank to beat his head.”

But, apparently, the police never took it seriously. The News Minute reported that when Srirangam’s Assistant Commissioner of Police K Ramachandran was contacted, he laughed it off calling it a drunken brawl.

“Abdullah was also inebriated and he died because he was pushed to the ground and sustained head injuries. It was not a big fight,” he said. When asked whether the reason behind the brawl was that a woman was harassed, he responded, “It was. The man who allegedly harassed this woman is Nagarajan, who was also drunk,” the officer stated!

But, Abdullah’s wife was sure that he wasn’t drunk. “He would never drink and drive. He was with another passenger. I don’t know why the police are saying so. All he did was fight against people harassing a woman and there is nothing wrong in that. Not even one person in that restaurant came to help him and now the police are saying this,” she concluded her statement with tears.

Tashmin now has to financially support her two kids.
