Due to an ongoing strike by the Tami Film Industry against the Digital Service Providers(DSPs) for high charges, the shootings and release of the movies have been postponed. The strike hindered the release of many prominent movies including Rajinikanth’s Kaala. While many directors constantly show their support, some directors are disappointed as well. Before releasing the teaser of ‘Mercury’ director Karthik Subbaraj tweeted again saying the crew will not be releasing the Tamil version till the strike but will be releasing the movie worldwide.

Tik Tik Tik’s Producer Nemichand Jhabak reacted to his tweet and said that everyone should stand together and support the strike and that the movie cannot be released just because it is a silent film.
