Madhavan has been the heartthrob of two generations and the game seems to get only stronger. However, Maddy turned out to be everyone’s chocolate boy after he donned the adorable role of Karthik in Alaipayudhey. Shalini and Madhavan’s famous Purusha and Pondatti is still a widely used phrase from the film. Madhavan in a recent interview was asked about one of his most loved films by Mani Ratnam and here’s what he had to say.

During one of the media interactions, Madhavan told that Shalini said to him during the shooting of the film that she would have preferred Ajith as her costar in a romantic film like Alaipayudhey. It is to be noted that Shalini and Ajith were in a relationship back then. Adding to this, Maddy had apparently told Shalini that he would have wanted to have his wife costar too. They were newly-married back then.

The film also starring Swarnamalya, Vivekh and Pyramid Natarajan in key roles, the film was directed by Mani Ratnam and music composed by AR Rahman.

On the professional front. Madhavan is awaiting the release of his two biggies – Nishabdham starring Anushka Shetty and Rocketry by Nambi Narayanan also starring Simran. While Nishabdham’s trailer has been well received, rocketry is yet to make its trailer debut. It is easily one of the most anticipated films this year.
