Anuya was a favourite ever since she debuted in the film Siva Manasula Sakthi alongside Jiiva. However, the actress has not done a lot of films ever since. After quite a while Anuya was seen in Shankar’s film Nanban which saw actor Vijay in the lead along with Ileana D’Cruz, Jiiva and Srikanth. She played the role of Ileana’s sister. The film was a huge hit and Anuya was recognised yet again by the audience. After that she was later seen participating in the popular reality show Bigg Boss hosted by Kamal Haasan.

Anuya talked about the last scene of Nanban where she was to deliver a baby and during the process she slaps Vijay hard in the film. Reminiscing the scene Anuya stated, “We would see the scene from the original film on a phone and then, shoot it. It was a frame-to-frame copy. I knew that I had to slap Thalapathy Vijay for the scene. I knew that I had to slap him in such a way that it wouldn’t hurt him. But it still looked like I slapped him really hard. So, I was a bit hesitant. After all, who wants to slap Thalapathy! So, I just gave a pat on his face. And he and Shankar sir were like, ‘We thought you were a good actor’. I was like, ‘sir, how will I do it?’. Shankar sir, replied, ‘This is not Vijay. Just give him a tight slap.’ Then, I told Vijay, ‘You are not Vijay anymore for me’ and then, I slapped (laughs).”
