Sridevi passed on the role of Sivagami Devi who could not foresee the success of this magnum opus.
The reason will shock you more. Sridevi turned down the role because her demand for the movie was Rs. 6 Crores and Rajamouli said that will not be providing her with that much. Rajamouli was not happy. He then approached Ramya Krishnan. Ramya gave a powerful performance and was lauded by everyone for her acting as Rajmata Sivagami. And the rest, as they say, is history. Sridevi instead chose the Tamil movie ‘Puli’ starring Ilayathalapathy Vijay Hansika Motwani and Shruti Haasan. The movie turned out to be a huge flop and bombed at the box-office.
