This Chennai Couple And Padma Bhushan Winners Are Winning Hearts!

Advertisements are always very complex and tricky to make. Only if the concept and characters involved are good, will the product become popular. Over the recent times, many new ideas have been used for advertisements. The most recent and different ad is probably the Vodafone which features a quirky and modern grandpa and grandma. The ad sees them doing daring stuffs like parasailing, getting a tattoo and dancing in Goa.

The whole of India has been admiring this 70 year-old power couple. What they did not know is that VP Dhananjayan and Shantha Dhananjayan are Bharathanatyam dancers from Chennai who were honored with a Padma Bhushan in 2009.

Upon finding the idea interesting, the couple accepted to be a part of it. Shantha actually went parasailing and Dhananjayan had to discard his comfortable veshti and wore shirts and shorts instead. Ever since the ad became a huge success, Dhananjayan has been receiving mails saying how cute a couple they are.

The couple’s son Sanjay, who works in New York never knew that they were approached for the ad. Dhananjayan has already appeared in a Nerolac Paints ad and Shantha did an ad for Kumaran Silks. According to the couple, since they know Bharathanatyam, acting comes naturally for them. Currently, the couple is taking it a bit easy. Dhananjayan says that if a good role comes up then he will even act in Tamil films.
