Suriya became a popular and acclaimed actor after his brilliant performance in Bala’s Nanda. His next films, like Pithamagan, Kaaka Kaaka, were all huge success. Suriya chose unique roles and did amazing.
Now, he is one of the big names down South, who has a large fan base in Kerala and Andhra Pradesh as well. On Wednesday, Suriya wrote an emotional message thanking fans on completing 20 years in films. Fans started trending the hashtag 20 Years of Suriyaism on Twitter.
In the message, Suriya wrote: “The last 20 years of my cinematic journey was about attaining the unachievable. Yet you all made it possible for me. Your applause…! Your applause motivated me to raise my bar, your thumbs down helped me to learn better, your support drove me to go beyond cinema (Agaram Foundation). Above all, your love kept this engine chugging. Here I owe you my life for the last 20 years of my travel and for the many more miles I need to make. Thanks one and all.”
Unlike his co-actors, Suriya hasn’t given himself to the mass cinema. Being a big Kamal Haasan fan, Suriya is known for experimenting films more often. He essayed the role of Bodhidharma in the sci-fi thriller Ezham Arivu. He did a time travel film. He has been a successful producer. He has been a TV anchor. He has done cameo roles in many acclaimed films. He has also lent his voice for many films.
On the work front, Suriya awaits the release of Thaana Serndha Koottam with Vignesh Shivan, which is expected to release later this year.
