2016 has been a bad year world over, but not for these actresses! Take a look at South heroines who had an amazing 2016 at the box office! 

 

SAMANTHA

 

With 4 blockbuster 100 crore hits and marriage rumors, Samantha has stayed trending all year. Samantha started her year by making a cameo appearance in Banglore Naatkal in February. Even though the film bombed, she was appreciated for her special performance. Next came the back to back highest grossing films of Kollywood, Theri and 24. Vijay’s Theri was released in April and broke all box office records. Samantha and Vijay’s chemistry was a hit and left the audience craving for more. Suriya’s 24, a sci-fi movie, also had Samantha play an important role. Then came the Telugu super hits, Aa..aa and Janata Garage. The actress already has signed 3 films for 2017. One with Sivakarthikeyan produced by 24AM Studios, Irumbu Thirai with Vishal and Aneethi Kathaigal with Vijay Sethupathi and Fahadh Faasil.

 

 

KEERTHY SURESH

 

Keerthy Suresh is making waves in the industry Vijay’s Bairavaa and Suriya’s Thaana Serndha Kootam. This Malayali beauty is one the most wanted actress at the moment after her back to back hits with Thodari and Remo. Keerthy is also broadening her horizons in Telugu. She is part of Nani’s Nenu Local and recently she made heads turn when she was selected as the female lead in Pawan Kalyan’s 25th film.

 

 

NAYANTHARA

 

Nayanthara was part of 6 films this year; Babu Bangaram, Iru Mugan, Kaashmora, Thirunaal, Idhu Namma Aalu and Puthiya Niyamam. Out of which 4 have been blockbusters including Iru Mugan and Kaashmora. The actress is consciously taking up movies where she has important roles and will be seen going solo a lot next year. The actress has already working on four films that will release next year. Dora, a horror-thriller, Aramm where Nayanthara will play a district collector and Kolaiyuthir Kalam, produced by ace music director, Yuvan Shankar Raja.

 

 

RADHIKA APTE

 

Radhika Apte made a mark for herself in Tamil cinema with Kabali and was praised for stealing the show despite Rajinikanth being in the film. The actress has had a great year with Phobia and Parched being hits at the box office. She delivered a stellar performance in Phobia, where she suffers from the disorder of being afraid to go out and believes her house is haunted. While Parched made the news for all the wrong reasons, Radhika yet again proved her mettle with a brilliant performance.

 

 

TAMANNAAH

 

Tamannaah has all the reasons to rejoice as 2016 has been a great year for the actress. She started her year with the Tamil and Telugu bilingual, Oopiri/Thozha with Karthi and Nagarjuna, which was a super hit. Tamannaah then followed her winning streak by playing a village doctor in Dharma Durai and a ghost/ actress in the trilingual, Devi. She stunned the audience in Abhinetri/Devi/ Tutak Tutak Tutiya with her execellent dances moves, courtesy, dancing legend Prabhudeva. Tamannaah has a lot to look forward to as Simbu’s AAA, Vishal’s Kaththi Sandai and Baahubali: The Conclusion awaits release in 2017.
