Though it was not intended to, it came out to be insensitive considering the water scarcity Chennai is currently facing. She immediately received heavy backlash for enjoying in the pool during Chennai’s ongoing water crisis.
However, Soundarya later deleted the picture from social media and wrote, “Removed the pictures shared in good spirit from my #TravelDiaries considering the sensitivity around the current #WaterScarcity we are facing. The throwback pics were to emphasize the importance of physical activities for children from a young age only #LetsSaveWater.”

This was not the only time Soundarya Rajinikanth was subjected to trolls for being insensitive for posting a picture. In February this year she was crtisised for posting happy pictures of her vacation to Iceland just a day after the Pulwama terror attack. Her post was flooded with comments asking her to stop tweeting her honeymoon pictures for the time being and mourn the death of CRPF jawans.
Soundarya is currently working on producing the web series of Kalki Krishnamurthy’s epic novel Ponniyin Selvan.
