All those who watched the film have specifically appreciated Mrunal Thakur for her performance more than anybody else. As a debutante into South, she has won the hearts of the film critics and is likely to land many more roles in the coming future. Her expression and costume design are what really caught the eye of the audience throughout the film. Mrunal Thakur has now become the new town fame down South. On the other hand, a recent report reveals that Pooja Hegde was initially approached for the role.
The movie was initially only released in Southern languages. But after its success in South, and as Mrunal has a fan base in Bollywood, the team released the film in Hindi on September 2nd. The movie is reportedly also doing well in Bollywood, as positive reviews are pouring in. Now, the movie is all set to have its premiere release on 9th September on Amazon Prime. Those who have already watched the film may also choose to re-watch this classic at home.
Mrunal recently commented, “I could not have asked for a better debut in any of the Southern movies. The love that I have been getting is incredible. And above all, it is a beautiful and sweet story and I am glad that with the movie being dubbed in Hindi it is going to reach more people. As an actor, I am almost getting the best of both worlds.”
According to reports, Pooja Hegde was initially in talks with the film’s team for playing the role of Sita Mahalakshmi. However, she apparently rejected the offer. Now, those who watched the film know that Mrunal’s role was much more than even that of Dulquer Salmaan, and it was one of the strongest roles written for women in recent times.
Mrunal’s claim to fame from Soap Operas came from Kumkum Bhagya and then her appearence on Nach Baliye 7 also helped. After doing 2 Marathi films, she was introduced in Bollywood with films like Love Sonia and Super 30. She then did Batla House, Ghost Stories, Dhamaka and Jersey. Jersey was the Hindi remake of the Telugu film with the same name. She had reprised the role of Shraddha Srinath in the film and co-starred with Shahid Kapoor.
The actress has now completed a film called Pippa directed by Raja Krishna Menon and co-starring Ishaan Khatter and Priyanshu Painyuli in supporting roles. She has also completed Pooja Meri Jaan directed by Navjot Gulati where she is acting with Huma Qureshi and Vijay Raaz. Directed by Umesh Shukla, she is filming for Aankh Micholi along with Abhimanyu Dasani. Gumraah, the remake of the Tamil film Thadam is also starring Mrunal Thakur and Aditya Roy Kapoor in lead roles.
