Meanwhile, Simran who is back to acting is waiting for the release of her upcoming movie Petta. She is paired opposite Rajinikanth. The movie is produced by Sun Pictures and is directed by Karthik Subbaraj. This is the first time Anirudh Ravichander has composed music for a superstar movie.

Apart from Simran, Petta also has Trisha playing the female lead. The actress will appear in the flashback portions and her role will be brief. Vijay Sethupathi, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Bobby Simha, Megha Akash, Sasikumar and Sanath are also in the cast.

Vijay Sethupathi will be playing the main antagonist in the movie. Sources say that the movie speaks loud against honour killing. Petta has been censored with a UA certificate. However, the team has been asked to mute cuss words and defaming phases. The list of cuts suggested by CBFC, the movie is likely to have much violence and cuss words. The movie has a run time of two hours and 51 minutes. The film is expected to hit the screens on January 10, in view of Pongal, but this is not confirmed yet.
