Sania Mirza Pulls Out of US Open Due To Arm Injury!

Get well soon!

Sania Mirza has been on the professional tour since 2003 and has been at the top of her game for the past 19 years. She has six Grand Slam titles and was a former world No.1 in Doubles. Mirza had a successful singles career, reaching a high of world No. 27 in mid-2007, making her the highest-ranked female player from India. In January this year, the player announced her retirement from the  WTA tour after losing in the first round of the Australian Open’s women’s doubles event with her Ukrainian partner Nadiia Kichenok.

Now, even as the player was all set to play in the US Open, she has informed her fans that she has injured her arm, and will therefore have to abstain from playing. She wrote, “Hi guys.. A quick update. I just have some not-so-great news. I hurt my forearm/elbow while playing in Canada 2 weeks  ago and obviously didn’t realize how bad it was until I got my scans yesterday and unfortunately I have infact torn a little bit of my tendon. I will be out for a weeks and have pulled out of US Open. This isn’t idea and it’s terrible timing and it will change some of my retirement plans, but I will keep you all posted. Love, Sania,” on her Insta story.

Sania gave birth to her son on October 30, 2018, with her husband, Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Mallik taking to social media to announce the arrival of their baby.
