Sai Pallavi praises Dhanush

Calls him a mentor and wonderful co-star

Sai Pallavi who was last seen in AL Vijay’s Diya (Kaanam in Telugu) is all awaiting the release of her upcoming movie Maari 2, which is releasing on 21 December. This is the first time Sai Pallavi is collaborating with Dhanush and the movie is directed by Balaji Mohan.

In the trailer, Dhanush is portrayed returning as the ‘naughtiest don’. Sai Pallavi plays Anandhi and is all set to woo Maari like the proper rowdy he is. She even calls him ‘Rowdy Baby’ and whistling at him whenever she sees him.
On her role, Sai Pallavi said, “I have to thank the director for the opportunity. Once I started performing, I soon realized that this movie was very different. My role has been written well.”

She was all praise for Dhanush. “He encouraged me a lot on the sets and offer lots of suggestions. He was like a mentor.”

On a lighter note, she added that it was fun to ride the auto; Sai Pallavi’s character is seen riding an auto in the trailer and it stormed the Internet when it was released.

Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, Tovino Thomas, Kreshna, Robo Shankar are also in the cast. Directed by Balaji Mohan, it has music by Yuvan Shankar Raja.

The first film had Kajal Aggarwal’s character also fall in love with Maari only before he rejects her after he realises that it was all a ploy. Kajal Aggarwal’s role was relevant to the plot only because she was pretending to love Maari, while helping the police officer on the side. In the end, Maari walked away single as the only Don who’s meant to be. In this one, there is a doubt if Sai Pallavi’s character would be along similar lines. Sai Pallavi’s look in Maari 2 has her dressed in a kurta and a khaki shirt on top with her hair pinned and donning those typical Maari glasses. While we aren’t sure if she’s inspired by Rajinikanth’s auto driver character in Baasha, one can surely say this would be a rather different take on it.

Apart from Maari, Sai Pallavi will soon be seen in Selvaraghavan’s NGK with Suriya Sivakumar and Hanu Raghavapudi’s film Padi Padi Leche Manasu.
