After he received his awards, photos of the actor meeting the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi and the President, Ram Nath Kovind were shared on his twitter. In the photos, we can see his wife Lata and himself posing with the PM and the President. Sharing the photos on his official handle, he wrote, “It was a great pleasure to meet the Hon’ble Prime Minister and the Hon’ble President and to have got their wishes,” in Tamil.

After receiving the Dadasaheb Phalke award, Rajinikanth said a few words on stage, “I dedicate this award to my guru and mentor K Balachander sir, and I remember him with gratitude. I also dedicate this to my brother Thiru Sathyanarayana Rao Gaikwad, who was a father figure to me, and raised me with great values instilling spirituality in me,” he remarked.The actor also remembered his close friend, bus driver Raj Bahadur in his speech.
This award was last conferred to Amitabh Bachchan in 2018. There have been no nominations for this award for the past three years. Along with the actor, Asha Bhonsle and Mohanlal were few others who were nominated for the award. Rajinikanth was awarded for his contribution as actor, producer and screenwriter.
