She stormed into the scene when she pocketed the silver medal at the Rio Olympics 2016 and there’s been no looking back since. Her rank is just one below American tennis player Venus Williams, while Serena Williams has been ranked number 1.
Speaking about her making it to the list, Sindhu said: “Well it feels good and nice and happy about it. When I saw the news then it was like, okay, I am one of them. The money always goes to the bank so not much account on that, but I think just to be in that list with some top names is reason enough to smile.”
Serena Williams topped Forbes’ list with $18.1 million. Other sportswomen who made it to the list are Caroline Wozniacki, Sloane Stephens, Garbine Muguruza, Maria Sharapova and Venus Williams, all whose ranks come before Sindhu’s.
Meanwhile, currently at the ongoing Asian Games in Jakarta, Sindhu has defeated Vu Thi Trang of Vietnam to make it to the women’s singles second round. Sindhu will next be seen playing against Indonesian player Tunjung Gregoria Mariska.
