“Yes, she has taken a conscious decision to deactivate her Instagram account as she needed a break from all that screen-time. However, this is only temporary. Whenever she feels like it, she can rejoin the platform.”Her father Prakash Varrier had told BT.
Priya Prakash Varrier shared a video on Instagram that revealed the reason behind her social media sabbatical. Priya Prakash Varrier revealed that she deactivated her Instagram account as she wanted to take a break from social media, and could not handle the pressure of it.
“My mental health and peace of mind matters to me. I was in peace for the last 2 weeks.” said the actress in the video.
“It’s a professional space so can’t be along good much. Social media should not mess with me too much. And during the lock-down it started getting to my head and it was a pressure keep up with it. So I just needed escape, so I deactivated my Instagram account.” she explained.
Priya also addressed all the negativity that has been going around with her being trolled and rumours on how she left social media for publicity.
“I’m used to being trolled, it’s nothing new for me. At times they do hurt. I’ve been in the industry from 18… for 2 years now. It was senseless for media to report that I left for publicity. Who would want that in middle of a pandemic. I have my own insecurities, fighting my own demons. No one has it easy. Negative tends to scar and leaves an impact.”
Priya Prakash Varrier, who is currently in Kerala with her family is awaiting the release of her film- Sridevi Bungalow. The movie, starring Priya Prakash Varrier, Lee Nicholas Harris, and Garima Agarwal in the lead, is reported to be based on yesteryear actor Sridevi’s death.
