Mani Ratnam is all set to release his ambitious magnum opus Ponniyin Selvan on September 30 this year. The team has been sharing detail after detail for this past one week, with character reveals, every single day. Today, the team revealed Jayam Ravi as Arun Mozhi Varum along with the announcement that the film’s teaser is to be launched today in Chennai at 6pm.

Yesterday, Trisha’s character Kundavai was revealed. According to the original book, the character Kundavai, a princess romances Vanthiyathevan, a spy. So, on Twitter, actor Karthi commented below her reveal, “Oh Princess! Please send your live location. I have to drop off your brother’s manuscript (olai),” in Tamil. Replying to that tweet, Trisha commented, “Smart phones and smart people are not allowed in the Palace, sorry.” This took netizens on a laughter ride, as they enjoyed this cute banter.

Meanwhile, the teaser of the film is all set to be released today, reportedly at the Chennai Trade Center. Actor Amitabh Bachchan is to launch the Hindi teaser while Actor Suriya and Actor Mohanlal are to launch the Tamil and Malayalam teaser respectively. The buzz is that Mani Ratnam along with the cast are to be present at the Trailer launch which is likely to begin at 6 pm today.

‘Ponniyin Selvan’ is one of the big films of the year 2022 as it is directed by a veteran director and has a star cast. The movie is adapted from the novel ‘Ponniyin Selvan’ which speaks about the Chola dynasty and empire. It is a historic novel and the movie stars Jayam Ravi, Vikram, Karthi, Trisha, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Prabhu, Prakash Raj, Nassar, Parthiban, Vikram Prabhu, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Jayaram among others. The music for the movie is composed by AR Rahman.
