After Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor tied the knot in April, she took to her Instagram to announce that the couple was expecting their first child. Instead of congratulating them, many took to trolling her for getting pregnant just 2 months after her marriage. Some even went ahead to create rumours that she was pregnant even before she married Ranbir Kapoor.
After tackling rumours, and giving befitting replies, the duo have moved on with their careers. However, in a recent interview, Ranbir Kapoor has made an insensitive joke about Aliaâs pregnancy weight gain. It is natural for a woman to gain weight when she is pregnant. However, it is highly insensitive to joke about it. During a live session on film promotion, the stars were seen talking about why they are not promoting Brahmastra in the way they do for other movies. Alia Bhatt replied, âWe will promote the film, and we will be everywhere but if the question you are asking is why we are not phailod (talking about widespread promotion) everywhere, right now our focus isâŚâRanbir Kapoor quickly pointed at his wifeâs baby bump and said, âwell I can say somebody has phailod (reference to her getting fat), adding he meant the comment as a joke. Ranbir Kapoor then apologised for his insensitive comment.
Previously, Alia Bhatt had given a befitting reply to all the trolls. When Alia Bhatt was busy promoting her film âDarlingsâ which is all set to release on August 5, she was asked how she felt about the absurd rumours and the trolling. Giving a befitting reply, she reportedly said, âEverything a woman does is put in the headlines. Whether she has decided to become a mother, she is dating somebody new; she is going to a cricket match or on holiday. For some reason, the eyeballs are always on womenâs choices.â
