Petta New Poster: Rajinikanth-Simran Make Quite A Jodi!

A new poster of Karthik Subbaraj’s film ‘Petta’ is out and fans cannot get enough of it. The poster features Rajinikanth and Simran holding a flower pot and laughing, making quite the couple who look happy and are made for each other. The poster was released this afternoon and, as Simran said, she can’t believe it even now that her dream has come true.

The film will release in Pongal next year, which falls on 18 January. The film’s other posters were released a while back, showing Rajinikanth in a different avatar, a contrast to his last few films such as ‘Kaala’ and ‘Kabali’. The film’s shooting began in June and includes a powerhouse of talent in terms of cast. The film’s cast, apart from Rajinikanth, includes Vijay Sethupathi, Simran, Trisha, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Megha Akash, Bobby Simha, Sasikumar and Sanath.

The first look featured Rajinikanth in a rather stylish avatar.

The second look showcases Rajinikanth in an avatar of a villager with his handlebar moustache on point and the sun rising behind him, reminiscent of his film ‘Thalapathi’.

Produced by Sun Network, the superstar is working Karthik Subbaraj for the first time, hinting that the announcement of his political party will probably not come anytime soon. The film also marks the coming together of Simran and Rajinikanth for the first time, considering she has acted alongside his contemporaries including Kamal Haasan.

The film’s music is by Anirudh Ravichander. While this film will release in 2019, Rajinikanth’s magnum opus – ‘2.0’ – the sequel to ‘Enthiran’ is scheduled to release on November 29, after a score of delays since 2016.
