Parthiepan Expresses Discontent Despite Winning Two National Awards!

What is the actor disappointed about?

The 67th National Film awards took place yesterday in New Delhi and a lot of actors and members of the film fraternity won various awards for their respective roles and performances. The most notable of them all was the Dada Saheb Phalke award, awarded to actor Rajinikanth. Apart from this, actor Dhanush won best actor for the movie Asuran, while Kangana Ranaut bagged Best Actress for Manikarnika and Panga. Vijay Sethupathi won best supporting actor for the movie Super Deluxe.

Veteran actor, writer and director Parthiepan won two awards too. His film, Otha Seruppu won two awards for Best Sound Effect and Best Film Jury, respectively. The director has always experimented with his films to try and give the audience an entirely new concept. This movie, which was released in 2019, has only 1 actor in the entire story, Parthiepan himself.

However, Parthiepan expressed his discontent saying that this movie deserved many more awards. “To be honest, the film deserves a lot more awards and like the Oscars the same film can be awarded in multiple categories. I know my film and it deserved a few more awards, including the Best Actor award.”

In addition, the actor added that he will try his best to bag all awards with his next, Iravin Nizhal which is an unprecedented single shot film. The music is said to be directed by AR Rahman for this film.

Apart from the National award, the movie has also won awards in the Toronto FIlm Festival in categories such as, Best Feature Film, Best Feature film Director and Best Solo Act Awards. The movie was considered a one-man show because it was written, directed, and performed by Parthiepan himself.

Parthiepan was last seen in Tughlaq Darbar, along with Vijay Sethupathi. He is currently working on Ponniyin Selvan and is awaiting the release of Dhruva Natchathiram. As director, his last film before Otha Seruppu was Koditta Idangalai Nirappuga which starred Parvathy Nair and Shanthanu Bhagyaraj in lead roles.
