Ola Driver Arrested For Sexually Assaulting Woman Doctor In Chennai!

A 26-year-old doctor was allegedly sexually assaulted by three men in an Ola cab on Sunday night! The woman was travelling from Injambakkam in ECR where she worked to her home in Anna Nagar.

After getting into the cab from Injambakkam, the cab driver Venkatesan picked two of his friends from VGP Peace Temple at ECR and said that they will soon get down. Suspicious about their motives, the woman called a friend and told her about the situation. The friend immediately called the Neelankarai police and informed them. The woman later told the police that the men had tried to sexually assault her.

The doctor began screaming, and another vehicle which was passing by, heard her screams and got the vehicle to stop. Police arrested the driver, but the other two men managed to flee from the spot. On Monday, police arrested the two men from Kottivakkam. Meanwhile, Ola stated that the driver has been blacklisted and terminated from his job.

As society is still unsafe for women in the year 2016, there are certain precautions that women are forced to take while travelling alone.

First, if anyone else tries to get in the cab you are travelling in, GET OUT first thing! Refuse to let another member get inside your cab and call for help.

Second, take the usual precaution of informing your near and dears one about your location and send them a tracker, so they exactly where you are throughout the journey.

Third, call your family or friends frequently and tell them your location, so that the driver is well aware that there are other people who know of your whereabouts.

Fourth, ask the driver to take only main roads and go via crowded places even if it means taking a long route. Avoid shortcuts and dingy spots.

Fifth, keep your defenses up. Always be aware and alert of your surroundings. Learn a few self defense techniques, you never know when you might need them!
