Non-Bailable Arrest Warrant Issued Against Suriya, Sathyaraj And Sarathkumar!

Five other stars embroiled in controversy!

A non-bailable arrest warrant has been issued by the judicial magistrate court in Ooty against eight Tamil actors. The actors include Suriya, Sathyaraj, Sarathkumar, Sripriya and four more. The warrant was issued by a  freelance journalist as the actors failed to appear in the court which dealt with a defamation case they were connected in. On October 7, 2009, the South India Cine Actors’ Association (Nadigar Sangam) held a meeting in Chennai to condemn a Tamil daily for publishing an article which allegedly tarnished the image of actresses.

The complainant, M Rozario, a freelance journalist in Ooty, said the actors who spoke at the meeting attacked all journalists instead of targeting a particular Tamil daily that published the article, The Times of India reported. Suriya, Sathyaraj, Sarathkumar, Sripriya, Vijayakumar, Arun Vijay, Vivek, and Cheran were issued to summon to the court on December 19, 2011. The actors filed a petition in the Madras high court requesting to dismiss with their personal appearance in the court. However, the petition was dismissed.
On May 15, 2017, the case came for hearing again. TOI reported that after learning that the actors had not appeared before the court, judicial magistrate Senthilkumar Rajavel issued a non-bailable warrant against the eight actors on Tuesday.
