No Lip-locks For Me: Sai Pallavi

No-kiss policy!

At a time when the South Indian film industry has been warming up to the idea of portraying physical intimacy and love on screen, there are still a few of those who like to keep it clean where it is simply just implied instead of going for it. Sai Pallavi, whose two films released recently, has made it clear that kissing on screen is a strict no-no for her.

The Premam actress was quoted saying: “I want my whole family to watch a film. I don’t want to make them feel embarrassed by being part of liplocks. It’s a conscious move not be part of onscreen kissing.” She further spoke of how she wants to make it worth the while of her quitting her career in medicine and choosing to act. “I have left my medicine to pursue a career in films; so I need to justify it by taking up roles that I can enact. I can’t sport skimpy clothes because I cannot carry myself in such attire. I am not against such attire, but it’s just that I can’t pull it off,” she said.

Sai Pallavi, meanwhile, has enthralled everybody as Anandhi in her latest film Maari 2, where she stars alongside Dhanush for the first time. Sai Pallavi’s look in ‘Maari 2’ has her dressed in a kurta and a khaki shirt on top with her hair pinned and donning those typical ‘Maari’ glasses.

Sai Pallavi is collaborating with Dhanush for the first time in Maari 2, a sequel to director Balaji Mohan’s 2015 film. The film also stars Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, Tovino Thomas as the antagonist, and Krishna Kulasekaran. The film’s music is by Yuvan Shankar Raja.

The first film had Kajal Aggarwal play the female lead. Kajal Aggarwal’s role was relevant to the plot only because she was pretending to love Maari while helping the police officer on the side. In the end, Maari walked away single as the only Don who’s meant to be. In this one, there is a doubt if Sai Pallavi’s character would be along similar lines.

Meanwhile, Sai Pallavi was last seen in AL Vijay’s ‘Diya’ (‘Kaanam’ in Telugu). She has Selvaraghavan’s ‘NGK’ with Suriya Sivakumar and Hanu Raghavapudi’s film ‘Padi Padi Leche Manasu’.

Apart from that, she is also reportedly set to star in Virata Parvam 1992, which also stars Rana Daggubati in the lead. Reports state that Sai Pallavi plays a Naxalite who falls in love with a police constable. Official confirmation from the actors and the team are yet to be made.
