Nithya Menen, the rising girl in Tamil and Telugu cinema has grabbed a role of her lifetime! If reports are to be believed, Nithya might play the legendary actress Savitri in her biopic. Directed by Nag Ashwin, the film is said to be a Tamil and Telugu bilingual and will chronicle the life of Savitri, who ruled the industry during the late 50’s and 60’s. Titled Mahanati, the film is said to be a magnum opus period film set in the golden era. The actor for the film has not been finalized yet, but the makers are thinking of zeroing in on Nithya to play the lead role.
Actor Savitri was born on January 4, 1936. She made her acting debut in 1950 with Tamil-Telugu drama Samarasam. She went on to star in several classics such as Devadasu, Missamma, Pennin Perumai, Pasa Malar, Bhale Ramudu, Mayabazaar and Gundamma Katha. With Mahanati, the director feels to revisit time and bring back vivid memories of the legend on screen.
