Ms. Bansi Had Accidentally Dialed My Number: The Love Story Of An Acid Attack Survivior!

True love has no bounds.

No matter how many times it is said, true love is always blind. On Tuesday evening, Ravi Shankar Singh (27), a CCTV operator from Malad, proved the statement right and got married to 25-year-old Lalita Bansi. Ravi Shankar fell in love with her voice and did not care for the fact that she was an acid-attack victim.

Ravi Shankar said, “Ms. Bansi had accidentally dialed my number about three months ago. I then called her back after 15 days. We spoke and I fell in love with her voice. Our conversations continued on a daily basis and in the process, I proposed to her.” He also added, “But I told her I was in love with her and would like to get married. Many couples fall in love with their partners’ face and eventually get divorced. With Ms. Bansi, I am not concerned about her face. She is a sweet person. I wish god blessed us for a lifetime.”

Lalita Bansi was a victim of an acid attack. It happened in 2012 when she visited her home town in Uttar Pradesh for her cousin’s wedding. The founder of Acids Survivors Saahas Foundation, Daulat Bhi Khan said, “A tiff broke out between her younger brother Sunny and her cousin Sham Babu. Ms. Bansi stepped in, and slapped both of them, asking them to stop fighting. She continued to stay in Azamgarh as her marriage was scheduled after five months. Fifteen days prior to her scheduled marriage, Mr. Babu threw acid on her face, as revenge for slapping him.” She had to undergo 17 surgeries at the Bombay Hospital and a 12 more in the upcoming months.

Many supported the wedding financially. One of them is the founder off Udyami Maharashtra, Rushikesh Kadam, who sponsored Lalita’s wedding and made arrangements for food, décor, banquet halls and honeymoon package. The Rotary Club of Shivaji Park is gifting the couple a sum of Rs 25,000. Actor Vivek Oberoi has gifted the couple with an apartment in Mumbai.

Not just that but Abu Jani and Sundeep Khosla designed the couple’s outfits for their wedding. It is heartening to see Lalita Bansi settle down. Congratulations to Ms. Bansi and Mr. Singh.
