It’s the beginning of the festive season in India and it will go on this year’s end. It’s a great time for movie releases as the holiday season will ensure good footfalls. Whether it’s a family drama or a massy film, a women-centric movie or a horror film, the theatres are offering an interesting range of releases this week. The Road (Tamil)


Starring Trisha in the lead, the movie also has Santosh Prathap, Miya George, Vivek Prasanna and Shabeer in it. The trailer gave us a glimpse of the plot where see accidents taking place at a particular spot on the highway. Trisha tries to uncover the mystery in this thriller genre movie.

Raththam (Tamil)

Raththam stars Vijay Anthony, and Mahima Nambiar in the lead. The movie also promises a thrilling ride where the protagonist is solving the mystery behind killings taking place all over the city. A thriller-drama film, it delves into the story that is going on behind the deaths.

800 (Tamil)


The story of ace cricketer Muthiah Muralidharan, 800 is a biopic on the sportsperson’s life. The unknown struggles her faced as an immigrant, his journey into the field of cricket, and the criticism and scrutiny surrounding his bowling, the movie takes you through his life.

Chaaver( Malayalam)


Starring Kunchako Boban, Justin Varghese and Arun Narayan, the movie is a murder mystery. It’s a political, action thriller film that has its distinctive Malayalam style. It’s grim and dark and touted to be a serious mystery that shall unfold on the big screen on October 6th.

The Exorcist: Believer ( English)


A horror film from the Exorcist series, this one is not for the faint-hearted. When two girls who go missing are found, their parents try to understand the events that transpired when they went missing. The franchise features the exorcism of people who have been possessed by an evil spirit. And this time again, the story is about how the girls are freed from the spirits that have taken over them.

Starring Bhumi Pednekar, Kusha Kapila, Dolly Singh, Shehnaaz Gill and Shibani Bedi, this movie explores the female orgasm and the conversation around it. The film was part of the Toronto Film Festival this year and has been starting the conversation on women and their desires.
