As per reports from The News Minute, Y Sambasiva Rao, a member of Andhra Pradesh state legislative assembly from Prakasam district, spoke to representatives of the Telugu Association of North America (TANA) over the phone about the incident. While Hanumantha and Sasikala were both software professionals, the latter used to work from home. The couple had been living in the US for nine years. More information on the murder is yet to be investigated and revealed.
State’s Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu took it to social media to express his grief and solidarity. In his post, he said, “Pained to hear about the killing of Sasikala & son Sai in New Jersey, US. My condolences to the family members.”
Nara Lokesh of the Telugu Desam Party also expressed his grief. In his post, he said, “Saddened to learn about the killing of Sasikala and her son in New Jersey, US. Strongly condemn such acts of violence”
The situation has put entire Andhra and Telangana into a state of mourning as this is not the first time someone from their state is being killed in the USA. On February 23, a Hyderabad engineer Srinivas Kuchibhotla, (32), was killed when Adam W Purinton, who earlier served in the US Navy, shot him in Kansas.
Much before that Vamsi was shot dead in his apartment garage on February 10th.
