Mithali Raj Slut-Shamed On Twitter, Responds In The Sassiest Way Ever!

What part of the body of a woman do you see when you talk to her? On the other hand, when you see her photo? Do you check out for her cleavage or long legs? Because only if we search for these things would, we start shaming someone when they wear a spaghetti top or a pretty dress.

It all began with a little meeting Priyanka Chopra had with Indian PM Narendra Modi in Berlin. Trolls on Twitter were quick to question her “sanskari” levels and her choice of a dress that showed her legs. Because the PM has no other work but to stare at her legs like these so called “sanskara” people on Twitter. Why does it bother these people so much that they spend time in commenting all kind of slut-shaming messages. Don’t you think you are the one with no-sanskara thoughts?

Apparently, PC disrespected the PM by showing her legs. When this is still illogical, something even more illogical happened.

The captain of the Indian women’s cricket team posted a picture on Twitter. The 34-year-old sportsperson posted a throwback picture with friends Amreen Khurana and Afshan Kaura. Mithali was wearing a cute black spaghetti top. Everyone saw the picture and hardly noticed this. But the ever keen sanskara people of our nation who have their eyes always on the look out for legs and cleavage found that her dress shows off a bit of her cleavage.

It didn’t matter that Mithali is a national icon, and has done the nation proud with her team’s brilliant performance in the ICC ODI World Cup recently. What mattered to the “sanskaras” trolls on Twitter was the fact that she dared to show even a bit of cleavage.

However, unlike in PC case, where she had to defend herself (she posted more of legs showing photos brilliantly shutting down all the trolls.) Mithali got support from her fans.

The fans didn’t just support her, but also called out the trolls for having such a regressive mindset. “Soch badlo desh badlo” (change your thinking, change your country) was an often-repeated response to the negative comments.

No matter how much an Indian woman makes our country proud in sports or abroad with her talents, there are still few people whose thinking does not go above her neck. However, Social media has given us the chance and freedom to express our support for them and condemn against these people and we hope things will become better one day.
