#MeToo Outrage: Actress Shalu Confesses Facing Casting Couch While Auditioning For A Vijay Deverakonda Film!

Another shocking revelation!

The #metoo movement did not stick around in India as much as it did in Hollywood and how! But, when Tanushree Dutta opened up about being sexually harassed 10 years before by Nana Patekar, the entire movement gained momentum yet again. This, since then started off as a huge movement in India and down south singer Chinmayi Sripaada gave it the weightage and started the fire; and many followed her trail down South supporting her stance. Many came out in support of the moment in the film industry and it gained momentum.

Actress Shalu Shamu who rose to fame with the film ‘Varutha Padaadha Vaalibar Sangam‘ as the lead Sri Divya’s friend and as Parotta Soori’s love interest. She was later seen in ‘Mr.Local’ as Asha too. In an interactive session with her social media followers, Shalu made a shocking confession. She confessed that while auditioning for a Vijay Deverakonda film, the movie’s director asked her to sleep with him to grab the role.

Here’s what she posted:

She wrote, “Even I have Come Across #metpp but I don’t wannt complain regarding Tis coz I know to handle myself as an grown up kid:) incase if I complain wat is the use ? Do you think the opponent party goint to accept it wholeheartedly?? Crazy. [sic]”  The actress further added, “Very Recently I got an approach from a famous Director to sleep with him to get a chance in his new movie with Vijaydevarkonda !!! #STOPWHERETHEYSTART.”

In a series of tweets, Chinmayi announced how she knew her career would get jeopardised soon after she rallied for the #MeToo movement where she spoke about facing sexual misconduct from noted lyricist Vairamuthu and shared other peoples’ stories on the same. That was when the #metoo movement gained momentum down South.

In what is being regarded as a shocking overturn of events, singer and dubbing artist Chinmayi Sripada had been removed from the dubbing union, run by Radha Ravi as well.

However, Chinmayi never stopped fighting. She is slowly getting to be an inspiration to many women who find it very hard to open up about misogyny, sexism or any violence against them.
