The ‘khandaan’ has not only been in the news lately for the Salman Khan’s roaring affair with Lulia Vantur, but also for the impending divorce petition filed by Malaika Arora. The couple were spotted on May 10th at Justin Beiber’s concert at D.Y Patil stadium in Mumbai along with their 14-year-old son. However, this noon the Bandra Family court accepted their divorce petition filed on the basis of mutual consent.

The couple have been married for 18 years and the court has granted the custody of their son to Malaika. However, Arbaaz has been granted visitation rights. Many rumours surrounded the couple’s divorce and one of them was the fact that Malaika wasn’t happy about her ex-husband’s unsuccessful career. In an alleged joint statement post their separation in March 2016, the couple said, “Yes, it’s true that we are separated. The truth is, we have taken a break, but that doesn’t mean people can presume, assume and speculate things of such malicious nature. We are taking out time to figure out our lives. We have maintained a dignified silence till now but it is causing us too much confusion and is disturbing for our families. To put all of the speculation to rest, we are giving out this statement.”

The Khan family is known to have been one of the most tight knit in the tinsel town. It’ll be interesting to see how this divorce will turn out for an otherwise large and close family.
