Mahanati’s Director Nag Ashwin: Keerthy Is Very Deserving!

Keerthy is surely deserving!

Keerthy Suresh has proved her mettle as an actress in the recently released Savitri biopic Mahanati (Nadigaiyar Thilagam in Tamil) where the actress played the late superstar with such grace. With critics and audience lauding her performance, it’s clear that the actress has finally shed her cute-girl image and has embraced a more mature persona on screen. Keerthy Suresh’s ‘Mahanati’ completed a year in cinema and even today it is one of the most finest films ever made not to forget the impeccable acting Keerthy did donning the role of superstar Savithri. She was unstoppable as an actress ever since but her roles were not quite as charming as ‘Mahanati’.

The actress has now won a National Award as the best actress for her excellent performance in the biopic. As a thank you note to her fans, Keerthy posted an emotional message on social media.

Celebrities from all around the country congratulated the actress for her feat.

Recently, Mahanati’s director Nag Ashwin spoke about the National Awards. He stated, “To be honest, people who saw the film told us that Keerthy would get the award for her performance. It was on our mind. Keerthy was fighting with all the biggest names in Bollywood for the award. I thought, realistically, Bollywood actresses would be preferred and maybe we won’t make it. We were very happy that Keerthy and her performance were recognised and even her costumes. The amount of research that went into also got recognised. It was actually a pleasant surprise because we weren’t expecting it. It feels great and I feel that it is a final culmination of the tribute to Savitri garu that we started off to do. I’d like to dedicate it to the whole team because it’s a team effort. From the research work to the PR and publicity team who took the film to the people, it’s a team process.”

He further added, “We didn’t make it for any award or reward. Every film is made with a calculation, but, this film wasn’t like that. We don’t even know why it was driven that way. It was a superpower that made us do this film. We made this with heart and this is the result. It’s a great learning for us.”
