Kerala MLA Calls Rape Survivor A ‘Prostitute’; Insults The Trauma She Endured

The rape survivor, a nun, cried after she heard his vile comments.

PC George, a six-time and current Member of the Legislative Assembly of the Poonjar constituency in the Kottayam district of Kerala state, during the weekend, made vile comments against the nun who had survived multiple rapes. Calling her a prostitute, the MLA said that the nun, who is accusing Jalandhar Bishop, Franco Mulackal of raping her, said that she must’ve have enjoyed the violence.

“No one has doubt that the nun is a prostitute. Twelve times she enjoyed it and the 13th time it is rape? Why didn’t she complain the first time?” he said at the press conference.

He also added that when the nun lost her virginity, she ceased to be a nun and should give up her holy dress, according to The New Indian Express.

The nun, who has been facing trauma, went into deep depression and broke down after she heard the comments made against her. She had even cancelled the first-ever press conference she was supposed to hold after coming out against the Bishop. The survivor’s story came to light after a case was registered in June against four priests of Malankara Orthodox Church for alleged sexual assault. The accused had allegedly threatened to disclose the nun’s confessions made in the church.

Meanwhile, several nuns have come out in support of the survivor and even held a protest in Kerala on Saturday, declaring that they will file a case against PC George. Turns out, he is a repeat offender and has made several derogatory marks against women in the past. He has sent packets of excreta to women activists, abused women on live TV, abused the actress who was abducted and sexually assaulted last year, abused a transgender person and took jabs at his gender, to name a few.

Currently, the National Commission for Women has vowed to take strict action against him.
