Kerala Government To Install Sanitary Napkin Vending Machines in Schools

Good Initiatives !

Menstrual hygiene is a fundamental right and schools and colleges are the best places to promote this. In an attempt to break the taboo around it, Kerala government plans to install sanitary napkin dispensers.

The aim is to make sanitary napkins available to all and promote menstrual hygiene. These are essentials and basic rights. It’s a practical solution to a medical condition that is on the rise because of the stigma around it. The Chief Minister of Kerala, Pinarayi Vijayan tweeted, “ This project aims to break taboos, foster health and empower our girls to soar with confidence.”

It’s a step in the right direction and we hope that more states realise the need for this. The conversation has begun, menstrual health is a topic that was spoken about in hushed tones but now with progressive acts like these, we hope to bring in a change.
