Keerthy Suresh to Star Along with Kamal Haasan in Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu 2?

Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu was released in the year 2006 starring Kamal Haasan and Jothika in the lead. A Gautam Menon classic the movie featured DCP Raghavan as he sets off on the trail of the killers of Rani, the daughter of a police officer. When Kamal meets Jyothika for the first time in Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu, she is trying to kill herself. The second time they meet, she is a victim of domestic abuse. Gautham broke stereotypes by having a female lead who is separated from her husband and has a daughter. Aaradhana made the audience empathize with her throughout the movie as she hesitates to take the ‘right’ decisions.

The latest news update suggests that Mahanati actress Keerthy Suresh could play the female lead in Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu’s sequel by filmmaker Gautham Menon. The news reports further add that Keerthy Suresh will be sharing screen space with Kamal Haasan in Gautham Menon’s Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu sequel.

Gautam Menon is one of those few directors who writes great characters for the women in his films. The heroines in his movies are effortless and steal the show with their performances. His women are so unique that their characters and names are etched in your minds long after the movie is over. He was the first  to move away from the cliche of naming heroines ‘Priya’ and named them realistic, like Aaradhana, Jessie, Malini and Hemanika.

On the work front Kamal is awaiting the release of Indian 2. Keerthy has a lineup of films including films like  Marakkar Arabikadalante Simmam, Miss India, Good Luck Sakhi, Rang De, and Annathae in her kitty. In fact, the other day, Bollywood diva Deepika Padukone recommended all her Bollywood fans to definitely watch Mahanati on OTT.
