In a recent Interview with Deccan Chronicle, Director A.L.Vijay spoke about his upcoming film Karu, starring Sai Pallavi. Although the actor is already famous among Tamil audience with her successful performances in Premam, Kali and Fidaa, this film marks her debut in Kollywood. And one must say, the actor has done a great job in finding the best debut film. If what we hear about Karu from the Director is all it is, Karu sure is an extraordinary film. A woman-centric horror film Karu recently released its first look poster that was intriguing. Sai Pallavi is seen intimately hugging a child that resembles a fetus inside a womb.

Talking about the theme, Vijay said, “It is an intense subject and focuses on the bond between a mother and her four-year-old daughter. Sai Pallavi essays the mother.” When prodded more on the sensitive subject, he reveals, “The movie touches upon the issue of abortion and I can’t reveal anything more at this point of time.”

The director is busy with the post-production of the film. When asked how he chose Sai Pallavi for the matured role, he said, “Right from the beginning, I was very confident that Sai would be able to pull it off. I watched Premam as well as Kali. I loved her performance in both. She was very impressive in the latter. She has done a wonderful job in Karu.”

The Devi (l) director also shares that Sai Pallavi is dubbing in her own voice in the film — “I was very happy when she came forward to dub. This will enhance her role multiple times.”
