Kannada Remake of ’96’ To Star Bhavana!

Whoa!

Reports suggest that there will be a Kannada remake of the Tamil film 96 starring actress Bhavana and Kannada actor Ganesh. The film will be directed by Preetham Gubbi with shooting starting sometime next year early.

Speaking to The Times of India, Bhavana shared her excitement: “When Preetham came to me with the offer, I was intrigued because Ganesh was on board and I already have a good rapport with him. I also know that the Preetham-Ganesh combination has a good track record. Honestly, I am not a fan of remakes and have rejected offers earlier. I don’t understand how a version of a popular film will work with the viewers who have already seen the original.”

Bhavana, who is recognised as a popular Malayalam actress, made her Kannada debut in Jackie back in 2010. She last starred in Taguru – a Kannada film. In the pipeline, she also has the Kannada films Inspector Vikram and Manjina Hani.

96 The Film had an October 4 release. While it has already been telecasted on the television, the film recently completed 50 days at the theatre and continues to fare well with a decent occupancy. Music is by Govind Vasanth of Thaikuddam Bridge fame. Playing Jaanu aka Janaki Devi, Trisha is seen wearing a simple yellow kurta, light blue jeans and a blue silk stole with hair tied into a low ponytail and a tiny bindi on the forehead. Simple yet classy, this has become a look that everybody on social media has been raving about. In fact, clothing showrooms in the city have already started selling the ‘Jaanu’ look! The film has even inspired dollmakers to make a Ram and Jaanu doll.

Reports are also rife that Samantha Akkineni is likely to star in the Telugu remake of the film. There has been no confirmation from her side.
